This article talks about why Recall might be giving you image files as results for your search, or screenshots only.
In Recall, our goal is to make your search experience as intuitive and useful for you as possible.
To do this, we want to open your search results in their original file (whether it was a document, Slack conversation, webpage or anything else) using the originating (or default) app, if it's available.
How come I'm only getting a screenshot?
Recall will try to show you the original file, if it knows where it is. If it isn't able to open the file for you, it will show you a screenshot in a best effort to provide you with the most useful search result.
When will Recall show a screenshot instead of the actual file?
If Recall doesn't yet support the app that you were using, or is have accessibility issues with your OS, then it may return a screenshot instead of the actual file. Please let us know whenever this happens, by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are experiencing this issue with webpages, try to install the browser plug in.
Where does Recall put these screenshots?
If you open an item in Recall, it will open the screenshot using your default image viewer and save the file to your 'Downloads' folder unless you have set a different default location for your downloads.
